CALIFORNIA — Today, February 15, 2025, U.S. Representative Laura Friedman (CA-30) and California Attorney General Rob Bonta hosted a virtual town hall, live on Facebook, to discuss California’s response to the Trump Administration and their ongoing efforts to protect our people, communities, and democracy.

“Trump’s illegal actions aren’t just about the law & politics—they’re hurting real people. I won't stop fighting back. I’m supporting lawsuits and legislation to stop these abuses and working with my colleagues to stop these unconstitutional power grabs,” said U.S. Representative Friedman. “Children are losing access to school meals, healthcare programs like Medicaid are under direct attack, and wildfires are becoming harder to fight due to reckless federal budget cuts. This is an outright assault on our institutions and the lives of everyday Americans.”
The town hall focused on the growing legal battle over Trump withholding critical federal funding that Congress has already approved. Attorney General Bonta detailed the lawsuits already underway and California’s plans to hold the administration accountable in court. The town hall also highlighted attacks on the judiciary, with Trump allies — including Elon Musk — publicly doxing judges and calling for their impeachment.
