PASADENA, CA — Today, August 8, 2025, U.S. Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30) joined Foothill Transit and Rose Bowl leadership in front of the Rose Bowl to tour one of the Transit system’s new zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell-powered buses, as well as the grounds of the historical Rose Bowl venue which is set to host part of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Foothill Transit plays a critical last-mile role connecting transit riders to the historic Rose Bowl, and we need to make sure we invest in these services so that athletes, spectators, and locals can move around LA when the Olympics and Paralympics come to town,” said Representative Friedman (CA-30). “I’m proud to have secured to a commitment from the federal government from Transportation Secretary Duffy to invest in our public transit ahead of the games, but I won’t stop working to ensure those federal promises turns into actual dollars.”

Millions of spectators and tens of thousands of athletes are expected to come to Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Foothill Transit, which serves as the last-mile connection between the Metro train station in downtown Pasadena and the Rose Bowl, is expected to see a lot more usage as spectators and athletes move from venue to venue.

In July, Friedman secured a commitment from Secretary Duffy to work with her and Los Angeles in preparing for and delivering the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
