BURBANK, CA — U.S. Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30) convened an education roundtable with educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders from across Los Angeles to discuss the pressing challenges facing local schools and opportunities for federal action to strengthen education.
Together, they discussed a range of issues, including teacher recruitment and retention, school infrastructure needs, and supporting students’ mental health. Friedman also discussed combating the Trump administration’s freeze on federal investments, which threatens to halt critical investments into California for education.
“Education is a key foundation for our children, and it’s our responsibility to ensure every child has the resources and support they need to thrive,” said U.S. Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30). “Trump’s threats to freeze federal investments in education put our students’ futures at risk, which is why I won’t stop fighting in Congress to protect and expand funding for our schools. These conversations help me bring the real challenges and solutions from our communities directly to Washington, so we can work together to deliver results for students, teachers, and families.”
Insights from the roundtable will help shape Friedman’s education priorities in Congress, including defending federal programs from harmful cuts and advancing initiatives that strengthen teacher pipelines, modernize classrooms, and make college and job training more affordable.
