RELEASE: Friedman, Jewish Members of Congress Visit Capitol Jewish Museum to Pay Respects Following Deadly Antisemitic Shooting

May 22, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, May 22, 2025, U.S. Laura Friedman (CA-30) joined fellow Jewish Members of Congress outside the Capitol Jewish Museum to honor the memory of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, two Israeli Embassy staffers who were murdered Wednesday evening in a targeted act of antisemitic violence.

A recording of the press conference can be found here.

The visit served as both a memorial and a call to action, as Members honored the lives lost and underscored the urgent need to confront rising antisemitism across the country. The location of the shooting — outside a museum dedicated to Jewish history and resilience — served as a chilling reminder of how present-day hate continues to echo the past.

“Two young people — full of life, about to begin a future together — were murdered in cold blood outside a Jewish institution in our nation’s capital. That was not a coincidence. It was antisemitic terror, plain and simple,” said U.S. Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30), “We have a responsibility — not just as elected officials, but as human beings — to say clearly: This is unacceptable. This is not normal. And this is not the America we should ever accept.”

Members in attendance included Reps. Brad Schneider, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Kim Schrier, and Sara Jacobs, who together stood in solidarity with the victims' families and the broader Jewish community.
