BURBANK, CA — U.S. Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30) convened the 2nd meeting of her Transportation and Accessibility Advisory Committee with leadership from local transit agencies and accessibility advocates. The group reflected on transit experiences during the World Cup in Los Angeles and other cities and discussed concerns ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.

“All eyes will be on Los Angeles in 2028. I’m working every day to ensure the games and their infrastructure remain long after the closing ceremony, for the benefit of all in our region,” said Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30). “This transportation advisory committee is just the latest step I’m taking to connect stakeholders and prepare our region to host the world, without making taxpayers foot the bill.”

Friedman also briefed the Committee on numerous federal investments she’s secured to make public transit safer, more reliable, and more affordable, ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games and long after the closing ceremony. Last month, she secured $500,000 to bring shade, seating, and real-time arrival information to LA Metro bus stops and Metrolink rail stations across the district. She also authored the bipartisan Safe and Affordable Transit Act, commonsense legislation gaining momentum in the House to improve safety for the riders who depend on public transit and the workers who operate it.
