WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, January 8, 2026, Congresswoman Laura Friedman (CA-30) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed legislation to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits, which expired at the end of last year:
“After months of fighting, Democrats successfully forced a vote and passed ACA tax credits extension through the House. This will help millions of Americans afford health insurance. Letting them expire would have been unconscionable.

Fresenius Medical Care, also known as Fresenius Kidney Care, is a provider of in-center and at-home dialysis treatment with more than 2,300 locations nationwide that serve more than 190,000 patients.

Rep. Laura Friedman (D-Burbank), who represents Hollywood, West Hollywood and Glendale, has been waiting to be called back to Washington, D.C., since the government shutdown began last week. Representatives will be given a 48-hour notice on when to return, but as of Oct. 8, no such notice had been made.
